Analying a NME cover
This is my analysis of a front cover from NME magazine. I chose to pick this magazine because it best fits the criteria on my survey so I am planning to take a lot of inspiration from it. As the double page spread it does have a min colour theme. This cover has a yellow theme which is contrasted by the red on the plugs and pulls. This is to draw attention to both sides of the cover. They link the colour though the title too. This is to give a better all round effect of drawing you to the magazine. If you had a yellow themed magazine with the normal red, white and black NME masthead then it would take away the all round effect.
This time the image isn't the be all and end all of the cover. Things overlap the main image and there is no link or contrast through them. The main function of this cover is to give you information on what is inside.
Analysing a double page spread
This is the double page spread I analysed. When looking at it I decided that the image is the main part of the article. Just like a gossip magazine people are going to look through and see images so you want an image that is going to stand out and catch your eye. This is what is happening with the Nicki Minaj article. The black contrasts the pink causing it to catch your eye. I also found that nothing gets in the way of the image. The text either goes behind the image or around it. The image is what is going to make people stop and look at the page so by making it look big and good it will make people stop and look.
